Lochter Loop Time Trial Course - Old Meldrum

A relatively new 10 mile circuit time trial course starting close to Old Meldrum. The course is a favourite with the Inverurie cycling club Team Ecosse Northboats who promote a popular end of season event on this course. It has also been used for the Grampian TT Championships.
 

Lochter Loop Course Description

The course became an official and measured 10 mile route in 2019.
The circuit starts and finishes near to the Lochter Activity Centre the route climbs along the A920, turning onto the B9001 at Drum of Wartle before finishing along the unclassified road towards Lochter.

The course has a total ascent of around 350 feet (109m) with the first half generally uphill and a faster second half - see the course profile below.

It is usual for Barra Berries Farm Shop, at Barra Castle, to be used as the event Head Quarters when using this course. The start is just over 2 miles away, so allow at least ten minutes, preferably more, to get to it from the HQ.
